Dean joined ERA in 2017, after a career focussed on costs in the legal sector.
Joining ERA was a natural progression for Dean, who is a qualified Costs Lawyer that has worked in the city for some of the largest law firms since 2003. Dean joins a network of experts who add value to clients by using their background expertise to identify opportunities for improvement that are otherwise difficult to spot.
Dean’s work has focussed primarily on litigation, and has saved millions of pounds for numerous clients including the NHS, international insurers, blue chip companies and local government prior to joining ERA.
Dean is an analyst whom prides himself on attention to detail. He has had success in both identifying and challenging unreasonable solicitor charges through his experience of delicate negotiating skills.
Disputes regarding legal fees can often become contentious, not least because the sums involved are sometimes large, so Dean has developed the crucial skill of managing the expectations and desires of multiple stakeholders with conflicting desired outcomes to the satisfaction of all parties.
As well as being able to scrutinise legal bills, Dean is able to advise clients on alternative methods of funding, to ensure they are getting the best value deal from their solicitors.
With experience of drafting and advising upon retainers between clients and solicitors, Dean can ensure that clients are not left exposed and can be satisfied their legal needs will be met, at the optimal cost.
At ERA, Dean uses his expertise to give clients the confidence to challenge unreasonable fees or sloppy legal work and identifies areas within their legal spend where they could be generating better value.
