John has an extensive background as an international purchasing professional specialising in international logistics and retail supply chain. With over 20 years’ experience at Managing Director level he can bring a wealth of valuable experience to all his clients.

Initially founded upon eight years working within a major multiple retailing Plc, progressing from Management Trainee to Chief Buyer this experience was used to establish an international trading company based in London and Hong Kong. As joint Managing Director John spent 5 months of the year working abroad, the remainder spent in liaising with
UK customers. These were ‘Blue Chip’ multiple retailers including Marks and Spencer and Next.

John has extensive experience of sourcing and purchasing a wide range of merchandise. This experience was gained by working for many years in the following countries: China, Hong Kong, South East Asia, Taiwan, South Korea, the Indian sub-continent, Turkey, Mauritius, UAE, Romania, Portugal and Italy.

During this time considerable skills were developed in: modern supply chain management techniques; the management of change in very different environments and cultures; contract law and negotiation; ‘hands on’ international trading involving currency movements, letters of credit, customs tariffs and international freight.

As Managing Director of a company with offices on different continents a keen eye for the bottom line and the controls required to achieve this was required.

As an ERA category expert, John has helped numerous clients from a wide range of industry sectors to improve their International Logistics purchasing and control costs. With wide experience of all freight modes he has particular expertise in the volatile import sea freight market and has an excellent track record in reducing and controlling costs in this challenging area.
