Apogee Corporation, the UK’s largest Photocopier dealer since their acquisition of Danwood in 2017, announced on the 1st August that they have signed a “definitive agreement” with HP (formerly known as Hewlett Packard) under which HP will acquire the Apogee business.

Apogee currently have thousands of clients in the UK with an estimated 110,000 Canon, Ricoh, Kyocera and Xerox machines signed up on Lease and Service Agreements. The deal is expected to be verified by the regulatory authorities by 1st January 2019 and commentators expect that HP’s desire is to replace other manufacturers’ fleets with their own hardware.

There is little doubt that HP will be looking to replace those machines with their own brand of devices sooner rather than later, with some very “attractive” offers. Other suppliers will be using this news to spread uncertainty about the continuity of support for the current fleet of Apogee machines, and trying to tempt clients away.

There will be a whole host of “deals” put forward to many businesses over the coming months, many of which will not be in their best interests.
