Barry Donovan has over 30 years of procurement experience. He has worked at board level with many high profile organisations driving improvements to their Procurement functions and delivering substantial benefits to their bottom line. His area of expertise is enterprise-wide procurement implementation and improvement, with organisations across the UK, Europe and with Global footprints.

Barry likes to help organisations unblock the true potential of Procurement by embedding best practice principles into the day-to-day activities of company executives and their staff. Areas of particular focus being 3rd Party relationships, governance, internal processes and systems.

Having worked in major transformation programmes with many Blue Chip companies, Barry has the experience and knowledge to help clients quickly and effectively make the right decisions and drive the right actions across their organisations.

A strong stakeholder engagement style and an ability to influence at all levels, means that Barry can assist in reviewing and setting strategy and have the practical skills to deliver the changes necessary. Barry’s expertise links very specifically with the work that our other Project Specialists can offer and looks to integrate these tasks within overall savings delivery.

Barry has experience with major global companies within the Financial Services, Media, Transport, Retail and Outsourced Services sectors. He has also been a Director of e-Procurement responsible for Central & Local government adoption of
Procurement systems.

Relevant Experience:

    – Led the Global Procurement deployment in 90 countries for Reuters PLC. Centralisation of activities into 5 hubs. £100m savings on £700m of spend.
    – Established a centralized transactional procurement team across all Lloyds Banking Group activities. Approval of a £25m investment case to drive substantial improvement & compliance across all procurement activity. Over £1bn savings.
    – At Carphone Warehouse conducted a pan European capability review and a subsequently set up a -purchasing hub set up. Over £10m of savings achieved.
    – Responsibility for developing and deploying e-Procurement, e-Sourcing and e-Auction technologies across Central HM Government and Local Government with cross platform IT systems.
    – Created a common sourcing process for use as a core business methodology at Serco Plc.
